 The 2022 Sonning Festival Cherished Car/Bike Display. (2nd and 3rd June 2022)

The first Festival Classic Car/Bike Display of locally owned cherished vehicles in 2016 was such a success that Max McNeill, then owner of the stunning Aston Martin DB5, suggested that the 2018 event should be held in his garden while it was open as part of the Festival Scarecrow and Gardens Days. This much larger venue allowed a more diverse range of vehicle and at least twice the number of invited entries to be comfortably displayed in magnificent surroundings. Once again the weather was outstandingly kind and visitor interest was huge.

Sincere appreciation and thanks go to everyone involved, particularly Max and Paula for hosting and showing two cars, the other owners and exhibitors who also showed their cars and bikes at their best and fielded many questions from interested admirers.

Thanks are due also to the rest of the Regatta Committee for their support. Watch out for 2022 which should be even more impressive!

Please note that this is an invitation only event and I can only invite vehicles I know about so, if you have something tucked away in a garage that you would like to be included next time, please contact me.

Sonning Scarecrows

What is Sonning Scarecrows?

  • Sonning Scarecrows is an event held every two years, where villagers of Sonning build Scarecrows (not just Worzel Gummidge types, but almost any sort of model) for viewing by the public. Pictures of Scarecrows from previous years can be found on this website. Last time we had over 70 Scarecrows and anticipate similar numbers this year.
  • We also open some of the village gardens to visitors.
  • This is a great day out for all ages, as evidenced by the increasing numbers of visitors each time it has been held.
  • Sonning-on-Thames is a village in Berkshire, just outside Reading – postcode RG4 6UL.
